Unleashing Bold Graphics & Web Design
I’m Darlene Brooks, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with creating. My earliest canvases? Notebook margins, scraps of paper, and even the backs of homework assignments - anything I could get my hands on. I grow up in the city of Philadelphia, PA with four siblings and a cousin in a neighborhood that’s now just a memory. Art was my escape and my superpower.
Lakeville, CT - High School Years
The art studio - bathed in sunlight and overlooking a serene lake - became my creative haven. Surrounded by glass walls and endless inspiration, I dove into every medium I could find, from sketching to sculpture. My passion for art only grew stronger.
Engineering & Digital Design
As an engineering student, I discovered the world of digital design early on. From junior high through graduate school and into my professional life in engineering and technology, I learned to blend creativity with technical skill, turning ideas into digital masterpieces.
2012 - The Side Hustle Becomes a Calling
For years, I designed for family, friends, and my church, but it wasn’t until 2012 that I officially launched my graphic design career. What started as a side hustle - crafting flyers, logos, and websites for travel professionals - quickly became a calling.
2020 - DMB Graphics
In the midst of a global pandemic, I reimagined my business as “Yes to Better Life” - a name that captured the spirit of resilience, and hope that year demanded. I expanded my services and my vision to include health related products to combat issues during this period.
2021 - Full-Time Creative
By the end of 2021, I retired from a long career in technology to pursue my true passion full time. Now, every day is a chance to stretch my imagination, elevate brands, and help others achieve their goals through the wonders of graphic design under the business name "DMB Graphics".
